D-Link DIR-615 IEEE 802.11n (draft) IEEE 802.11g IEEE 802.11b IEEE 802.3 IEEE 802.3u Wireless Router - Retail

Price: $19.99 (Free Shipping)

Take your home wireless network to a new level with the D-Link DIR-615. This draft 802.11n router is backward compatible with standard Wireless-G and –B equipments and it delivers faster speeds and farther range than a standard 802.11g router. The award winning QoS (Quality of Service) engine prioritizes traffic to maximize the quality of VOIP calls or online gaming.

Keeping your data secure is just as important to a great online experience as speed and range. That's why a full set of encryption options is available including WEP, WPA and WPA2. Firewall Protection is included for additional security.

Review:
Pros: DIR-615 C1 is entirely updated internals. It is an Atheros chipset router with the ar9102 radio chip. I have completely dissembled my router. It is identical to the Trendnet TEW-652BRP router in terms of firmware compatibility (the Trendnet GPL download even makes references to the DIR-615 C1). You can cross-flash the Trendnet firmware on this router, but most people agree the D-Link has more options and is better.
The Atheros ar9102 chip is 2x2 MIMO they are cheap to produce. Both antennas are removable which is nice.
This router is Linux based and OpenWRT now runs on this router! It has 32MB of RAM, 400Mhz CPU, 4MB of flash. This router is easy to open (4 screws on bottom, no snaps!) and you can easily solder in a rs232 serial port. A modern compact Linux OpenWRT router!
Cons: 2x2 MIMO isn't as good as the 3x3 MIMO routers out there, but they are more expensive.
Short antennas compared to what I got with other atheros AP81 routers from TP-Link and Planex.
